Should vaping lobby groups attack a weakened UK government?
13th June, 2017

At this moment in time the Conservative party is in disarray after a disastrous general election campaign. Theresa May is in real danger of being ousted in the short term despite her ambitions to “sort out this mess”. The party is currently in talks with the DUP about working together in the future despite the controversy this has created across the political spectrum. So, with a weakened Prime Minister, Brexit negotiations about to begin and the repeal of European laws in the pipeline, is now the perfect time for vaping lobby groups to attack the UK government?

Electronic cigarettes leading to significant fall in tobacco smoking
23rd July, 2015

While many of the large tobacco companies would like you to believe that electronic cigarettes will be here today and gone tomorrow, that does not seem to be the case with statistical information. The number of electronic cigarette users trebled between 2012 and 2014 with an estimated 2.1 million "vapers" in the UK. This compares to an ongoing reduction in the number of adults smoking tobacco products which has fallen from 25% in 2007 to 18% in 2014.

In the scramble to raise as much money as possible to fund their promises, UK politicians may have handed the vaping industry a free hit as we approach the UK general election. It is common knowledge that all political parties are struggling to raise sufficient funds in the current economic environment and it looks as though the tobacco cigarette industry is an easy target. While the UK authorities have taken a back seat with regards to the short-term regulation of electronic cigarettes, passing this particular buck to the European Commission, the same cannot be said in the US. While we await confirmation from the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) with regard to future regulation of the US vaping market, it seems as though the US government is looking to dictate short-term policy.

Electronic cigarettes are here to stay!
16th February, 2015

One party line which critics of electronic cigarettes have pushed time and time again is that electronic cigarettes are a gateway to their tobacco counterparts. Despite the fact that numerous research has shown the exact opposite to be correct, politicians and regulators regularly appear in the press with this ludicrous suggestion. So why do critics keep up the facade that electronic cigarettes may somehow undo the "good work" achieved by the tobacco cigarette smoking ban?
